Is this the right gate?
When to enclose the bottom of the stairs
A standard gate only closes off the bottom step, which leaves a toddler free to climb in from the side or crawl underneath open stairs. An enclosed gate wraps around the whole base of the staircase, so there's no way in at all.
It suits your home if:
✓ Your stairs are open at the side or underneath, so a child could get in around a standard gate
✓ There's a space under the stairs where a toddler could get stuck or bump their head
✓ You want the whole base of the stairs closed off, not just the bottom

Enclosed stair gates we've made
Every gate is made to measure. Here are some we've fitted around the base of open stairs.
Why enclose the stairs
Every way in, closed off
Enclosing the stair protects against little ones getting stuck underneath or knocking their heads on the underside of the steps.
Close off the space underneath
Open stairs have more than one way in. These are the things we build into every enclosed stair gate:
Take it down when you're done
A release mechanism lets the gate come fully off its wall mounts once you no longer need it.
Secure, without the damage
Our non-intrusive fixings hold the gate firmly and come off without damage to your surfaces.
Use a manual latch, not self-closing
Self-closing springs need frequent tuning and wear with daily use. Manual operation is the only failsafe way to know the gate is latched.

Enclosed stair gate FAQs
Straight answers to what parents ask us most.

On open stairs, toddlers can crawl underneath, get stuck, or knock their heads on the underside of the steps. Enclosing the stair keeps them out.
-
A stair bottom gate closes off the first step to stop climbing. An enclosed gate also closes off the sides and underneath, which matters on open stairs.

Every gate comes in two heights: 71 cm and 104 cm. The taller 104 cm gate suits older toddlers who have started climbing, and pets that can jump. Both heights come in white or black.
