Made to fit your stair

Standard gates need two flat, parallel walls. A spiral stair has a curve, a centre pole and open sides, so we build your gate from modules set at the angles your stair needs.

Gates that follow the shape of your spiral stair

Top of the stairs

A gate across the opening at the top of your spiral stair, clamped to the stair's newel post or fixed to the wall beside it.

Compact openings

Where space is tight, a two-module gate can close off the stair opening.

Full surround at the bottom

Gate modules wrap all the way around the base, closing off every side and keeping little ones away from the underside at the back, where head knocks happen.

Spiral stair gates we've made

Every gate is made to measure. Here are some we've fitted to spiral staircases.

Getting spiral stairs right

Spiral stairs need extra care

The underside at the back of a spiral stair is an easy place for a toddler to knock their head. A full surround keeps them out of it.

Close off the back of the stair

Open sides and tight curves create risks you won't find on a straight staircase. These are the things we build into every spiral stair gate:

Take it down when you're done

A release mechanism lets the gate come fully off its wall mounts once you no longer need it.

Clamp it on, don't screw it in

We can clamp gates to your stair's newel posts, or use non-intrusive fixings on painted plasterboard walls, so there's nothing to repair when the gate comes down.

Use a manual latch, not self-closing

Self-closing springs need frequent tuning and wear with daily use. Manual operation is the only failsafe way to know the gate is latched.
