Over 20 years of keeping little ones safe

We've been baby proofing Australian homes for more than 20 years, and for the last 10 we've focused solely on baby gates. Along the way we've tried and tested countless methods, and kept only the ones that work.

Our experience

Every home is different, and in more than 20 years of baby proofing we've seen most of them. We've tried the off-the-shelf options, the workarounds and the shortcuts, and learned which ones let families down. What's left is the approach we use in every home today.

Tried, tested, and kept only what works

What experience has taught us

The methods we've kept

Standard gates need two flat, parallel walls. Our modular system joins sections at the angles your home needs, so we can fit stairs, corners and wide openings off-the-shelf gates can't.

A modular system, not one-size-fits-all

These are the lessons behind every gate we fit today, each one learned from seeing what works in real homes and what doesn't.

Clamps and custom fixings over screws

We fix to glass, stone, balustrades and posts with custom clamps and brackets, so there's little or no repair when the gate comes down.

Gates that come down cleanly

A release mechanism lets every gate come fully off its mounts once you no longer need it.

Set gates back from the top step

A gate with a base rail should sit at least 40cm from the top of the stairs, so a caught heel doesn't send someone toward the drop.

Never pressure-mount against glass

Constant pressure stresses a glass balustrade, and an impact could shatter it. We use custom fixings instead.

Use a manual latch, not self-closing

Self-closing springs need frequent tuning and wear with daily use. Manual operation is the only failsafe way to know the gate is latched.
